Executive Chairman’s Message

We want to welcome everyone back from a safe and hopefully fun summer.  We continue to work year round for your benefit.  From New York to Florida, we continue to grow embracing new members from different agencies.  We on the National level want to thank the many men and women who volunteer their time to assist our members, protect our community, and assist in the organizations daily operations.

This month is another anniversary remembering “September 11”.  We need to continue to salute the memories of the individuals who died of all nationalities.  We especially need to salute the many law enforcement and emergency workers who died saving lives.  As the many that lost family and friends, and continue to suffer, we share in your grief and the honorable memory of your loved ones.  We pray that time will never allow us to forget.

Like the many heroes of September 11, we have many heroes who serve in the Armed Forces of the United States of America whom we should never forget. Recently an ignorant reporter stated the renaming of streets was getting ridiculous.  What is ridiculous is the number of men and women dieing at war.  We would be much happier never having to rename a street,  building, or statue after anyone who has to die for that honor.  This not a statement in agreement or disagreement with the war, but it is a statement in support of the many heroes serving our country.

As the 2006, democratic and general elections approach we have to remember that voting is a privilege that we almost lost recently.  Failure to exercise our rights gives someone else the ability to disregard and discriminate against us.  We will be participating in a movement that will move across the United States, as did the immigration issue.  The immigration issue united all immigrants especially the Latinos.  We now need to exercise our voting power and vote in record numbers across the United States.  Our leaders should set goals in our individual communities to demolish previous election records.  We as members of the NLOA will be assisting, if not leading, our communities to move forward.

The time for our silence, your silence, has passed and every voice needs to be heard.  We encourage you to participate in the NLOA in your state and agency.  You each have something to offer the organization and each other.  We host various social, fraternal, political, educational, and networking events.  We determine our own future and you help determine our direction. Stand apart from the crowd that either causes or watches as negative things happen.  Be apart of the solution and help make history.

God Bless,

Executive Chairman
