Kicks-Off Support in Latino Communities

CITY HALL – The National Latino Officers Association of America (NLOA) today proudly endorsed the candidacy of Mark Green for New York State Attorney General. The officers acknowledged Green’s distinguished record of public service and lifetime of experience protecting the rights of all New Yorkers.

“As law enforcement officers and Latinos, we understand that public safety and civil rights are not mutually exclusive,” said Anthony Miranda, Executive Chairman of the National Latino Officers Association of America. “We are proud to endorse Mark Green for the position of our top law enforcement official because he has proven he understands that too. As a public official, consumer rights lawyer and city administrator, he has fought both for law-and-order while remaining a staunch defender of civil rights. “We look forward to working with him to share his message of effective and independent representation in our communities throughout the state.”

Miranda noted Green’s consistent and distinguished record as a consumer advocate, Commissioner for the Department of Consumer Affairs and New York City Public Advocate. “Mark Green’s candidacy and career are based on his passion and commitment to protecting the rights of our residents,” said Miranda. “Rather than run on his last name, Mark Green is running on his credentials and experience. New Yorkers can’t afford to guess when it comes to the future of their public safety. We need Mark Green, a proven advocate for our communities and all New Yorkers.”

NLOA members testified that the organization, with 10,000 members in New York City, planned to actively campaign for Mark Green in their communities and state-wide.

The NLOA represents members, both uniform and civilian, that are employed by law enforcement agencies on the city, state, and federal level. The National LOA also represents non-law enforcement personal employed in both the private and public sectors.
